Thomas L. Yoset was born and resides in
Meadville, Pennsylvania, where the firm has its principal offices. He
attended Dickinson College in Carlisle on a Pennsylvania Vocational
Rehabilitation scholarship, majoring in mathematics with a minor in
psychology. He graduated summa cum laude in 1973 and pursued
graduate studies at Brown University, in Providence, Rhode Island,
receiving his Master of Science degree in mathematics in 1976.
Tom’s avocation is genealogy–the study of family history. In
1977, he co-founded the Crawford County Genealogical Society, and was
the first editor of its journal, Crawford County Genealogy. He
resumed that position from 1993 to 1997, during which time Crawford
County Genealogy was ranked among the most scholarly genealogical
periodicals in the world, and the only publication at the county level
to be so recognized. Although no longer active in the Society, he
maintains a web site dedicated to Crawford County genealogy at
www.alltel.net/~yoset.
His genealogical research into courthouse records, in the late 1970s,
led to land title research in connection with northwestern Pennsylvania’s
then-flourishing oil and gas industry, and eventually to the formation
of a title abstracting firm. Realizing his need for legal training, he
entered New York University School of Law, in New York City, obtaining
his J.D. degree in 1988. Having clerked the previous summer in Palm
Beach County, Florida, he joined the Florida Bar and practiced
commercial litigation for several years before returning to Meadville.
Mr. Yoset is a member of the Crawford County and Pennsylvania Bar
Associations, and practices with the firm’s Arch Street office in the
areas of business and family law, real estate, estates, immigration, and
bankruptcy.
